About the Author

Anthony Ellis McGee is a native of Chicago. McGee first recognized his passion for writing and speaking during his high school years. However his talents remained dormant until he entered a poem in a poetry contest in 1993. With his passion once again ignited, McGee attended a symposium in Washington D.C. for The International Society of Poets. Later, one of his poems would be featured in the anthology The Coming of Dawn.

In 1995, McGee became a member of the Illinois Literacy Volunteers of America and tutored individuals in reading as he continued to write poems and works of fiction with dreams of completing his first novel. However in 1996, rejection letters from publishers and agents caused McGee to scrap his literary efforts and return to corporate America. This decision would cause him to defer his dream for almost a decade.

McGee spent nearly nine years working and living in corporate America's imaginary safety net as his dreams rested on life's back burner. In June of 2004, he saw the dynamics of his life change forever with the death of his father, the deteriorating health of his mother, and the loss of his "secure" job in the insurance industry. His passion was rekindled and so was his faith. And in July of 2006, McGee released his debut novel, Under the Same Roof! In October of 2007, McGee's novel received the Black Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement in Literature (Fiction) from the African-American Arts Alliance!

Anthony Ellis McGee is still a resident of Chicago's South Side. He loves reading, watching movies, going to concerts and jogging. McGee is the founder of AEM High Productions and is currently working on his next novel.
